Students use the LEGO® EV3 Mindstorms to build real life robotic solutions while exploring cross-curricular opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Education, Math). With this approach, students are empowered with their own success which encourages critical thinkers and problem solvers for future leaders. Students will compete in project-based challenges and team-driven robotic competitions to challenge their mastery of building, coding and programming.  

 

The first semester will cover basic robot design, coding, and programming while the second semester will focus on robotic innovation, challenges and solutions. The class will be partnering with FIRST Robotics program and Carnegie Mellon Robot Academy. The highlight of the academy is two competitions: Sumo Wrestling and the famous Battle Bot Competition.

This class explores the world of building in LEGO® scale by researching different designs through the ages.  Students will explore the real world by seeing how engineers and architects work together to build world class projects.  Combining this knowledge of the basics of architectural designs and principles learned will lead to city designing, planning and building several architecture designs of their own creation.

Grades 1st through 3rd

This class offers an introduction to robotics using LEGO® elements and sensors. Students are empowered with their own success which encourages critical thinkers and problem solvers for future leaders. Students will build, program, and design various project-based robot challenges.  Computational thinking skills along with coding will be developed along with challenges to think creatively outside the box. Skills taught will prepare students to think for 21st century.
