This class explores the world of building in LEGO® scale by researching different designs through the ages. Students will explore the real world by seeing how engineers and architects work together to build world class projects.  Combining this knowledge of the basics of architectural designs and principles learned will lead to city designing, planning and building several architecture designs of their own creation. Supply list will be sent.

 

Virtual platform: Zoom meetings, Google classroom for assignments and Flipgrid to post work.

Junior LEGO®

This class offers an introduction to robotics using LEGO® elements and sensors. Students are empowered with their own success which encourages critical thinkers and problem solvers for future leaders. Students will build, program, and design various project-based robot challenges. Computational thinking skills along with coding will be developed along with challenges to think creatively outside the box. Skills taught will prepare students to think for 21st century. 

 

Must purchase a We Do LEGO® Robotics kit to use at home (https://education.lego.com/en-us).

Grades 4th through 9th

Explore the world of building in LEGO® scale by researching different designs and the history through the ages. Students will explore the real world by seeing how engineers and architects work together to build world class projects based on the history of architectural designs. In addition to architectural landmarks, bridges, famous architects, their designs and the history behind their famous buildings will be studied. Through research, students will recreate and reconstruct their rendition of these famous architectural feats using thousands of LEGOs®. 

 

Materials: Students will be sent a materials list of LEGO® elements for the class. This class will meet virtually once a week and weekly homework assignments are expected to be completed before each class.
